Faster than a Speeding Bullet…
Japan's National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (via Fudzilla) using 50 km of commercially available optical fibers and signal amplifiers achieved a estimated peak rate of 402 Terrabits per sec or 50.25 Terrabytes/sec. It's approximately 25% higher than the previous record, set last October. At that rate you could download the entire library of Congress’ digital catalog in 1.5 secs, or on copy of Elden Ring in less then 1-tenth of a second!
