Issac Hayes Don’t Play
A federal judge in Atlanta ruled Tuesday that former President Donald Trump and his campaign must stop using the song "Hold On, I'm Comin’" while the family of Issac Hayes, one of the song's co-writers, pursues a lawsuit against the former president over its use.
The song was written by the Isaac Hayes and David Porter and was first sung by the duo “Sam & Dave” in 1966. It reached the #1 spot on the Billboard R&B charts on June 18th, 1966 and was the top selling R&B single of that year.
Sam & Dave would continue to work with Issac Hayes and in 1968 the trio would share a Grammy for the song “Shaft”. Sam & Dave would be inducted into the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame in 1992 and Issac Hayes would be inducted in 2002.
Sadly Dave Prater would pass away in 1988 and Issac Hayes in 2008. Sam Moore is currently 88 and lives in Miami, Florida and to this day is still making music.
